Phase I - Solar Panel Construction Begins Tuesday, April 22, 2014
Phase I of the Solar panel construction is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Alturas Avenue parking lot. The construction will cause delays in drop off and pick up. The south half of the parking lot will be closed. The north entrance will be closed; leaving only one way in and one way out of the parking lot. Please refer to the solar panel parent flyer and solar panel map sent home with your children. You may also find the flyer and map in the locker section of this website. We encourage you to drop off and pick up alongside Alturas Avenue and Benjamin Holt. We thank you for your patience. The end product will be of great benefit to our site and ultimately our students. Thank you, S. Martinez, Principal
Drop off/Pick up Procedures
We will be implementing new procedures in order to minimize any traffic and safety issues during drop off/pick up times. It is crucial that everyone follows traffic laws. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Drop Off/Pick up zone: This zone will be clearly labeled. Please pull up as far up as possible along the red curve in front of the campus, and quickly drop off or pick up your child/children. This will be a single file - no double lines, This is a no parking zone.
Parking - If you wish to park, please enter through the middle entrance along Alturas Ave and park. There is absolutely no parking allowed along the red curve or along the fire lane. You must legally park in a stall designated for parking. Please do not enter the small parking lot labeled "bus and Staff parking only." This area must be kept clear for our Special Education buses. Thank you for your cooperation.
Dress Code 2013-2014
All students are to follow our dress code: Please make sure your children come to school dressed either in uniform or strictly adhering to the SUSD/Kingston/Valenzuela Dress Code. To view dress code, click on the following link. SUSD/Kingston/Valenzuela Magnet Dress Code Violators will be subject to our progressive discipline education code guidelines. (warning, citations, detention, and suspension.)
Tops: Collared polo shirt or t-shirt in solid white, navy blue, emerald green, or maroon. Black is acceptable for 7th and 8th graders only. No logo or graphic design allowed.
Bottoms: Pants, shorts or skirts (at least fingertip length or longer) in navy blue, khaki, or blue denim jeans. No holes or ripped clothing. Black is acceptable for 7th and 8th graders only.
Fridays are "School Spirit Fridays," and students are encouraged to wear school or magnet logo clothing with jeans.
Please help us in enforcing our Dress Code Policy from home. Monitor your student's clothing to ensure they meet compliance.
Help us improve our attendance! There are many students arriving late on a daily basis. Remember: Our school start time is 8:40 A.M. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria from 8:10 - 8:35 A.M., and our first bell rings at 8:35 for students to line up. Students arriving after 8:40 will be marked as "tardy." Help us reduce the number of tardies by having your child arrive no later than 8:35 A.M. Also, many students are being checked out of school before dismissal for a variety of reasons preventing students from receiving all the required instructional minutes. Please refrain from taking your child out of school early unless it is an emergency. Thank you for your support!
San Joaquin A+ celebrates its 22nd Annual Rotary Read In event, which was hosted throughout schools in Lincoln, Lodi, and Stockton Unified School Districts. This community event involves members from our community to donate their time to read to preschool through 3rd grade classrooms, and present them with a literature book to add to their library. On behalf of our school, we would especially like to thank Humphrey's College and Butler Construction for allowing their employees to participate in this event by reading to our students.

Hong Kingston/Valenzuela Merger
On June 26, 2012, SUSD and the Board of Education approved the merger between Hong Kingston School and Valenzuela Magnet School. This will be the second year of implementation. We will continue to improve the Valenzuela Magnet Program. Hong Kingston School/Valenzuela Magnet Program, will operate as a "Magnet Program within a School," serving both conventional and magnet students. On behalf of the Hong Kingston/Valenzuela staff, we look forward to continuing serving all students. For more information on the Valenzuela Dual Immersion Spanish Magnet Program, see the brochure in our locker.
