We will be implementing new procedures in order to minimize any traffic and safety issues during drop off/pick up times. It is crucial that everyone follows traffic laws. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Drop Off/Pick up zone: This zone will be clearly labeled. Please pull up as far up as possible along the red curve in front of the campus, and quickly drop off or pick up your child/children. This will be a single file - no double lines, This is a  no parking zone.

Dress Code 2015-2016

We are not a uniform school, however, all students are to follow SUSD/Maxine Hong Kingston/Valenzuela dress code:   We highly encourage students to wear uniforms. The SUSD/Kingston/Valenzuela Dress Code will be strictly enforced from the first day of school. To view dress code, click on the following link.  Maxine Hong Kingston/Valenzuela Dress Code   Violators will be subject to our progressive discipline education code guidelines.  (warning, citations, detention, and suspension.)

Uniform Policy:

Tops:  Collared polo shirt or t-shirt in solid white, navy blue, emerald green, or maroon.  Black is acceptable for 7th and 8th graders only.  No logo or graphic design allowed.

Bottoms:  Pants, shorts or skirts (at least fingertip length or longer) in navy blue, khaki, or blue denim jeans.  No holes or ripped clothing. Black is acceptable for 7th and 8th graders only.

Attendance Counts!

Help us improve our attendance!   Remember:  Our school start time is 8:40 A.M.  Breakfast is served in the cafeteria from 8:10 - 8:35 A.M., and our first bell rings at 8:35 for students to line up.  Students arriving after 8:40 will be marked as "tardy."  Help us reduce the number of tardies by having your child arrive no later than 8:35 A.M. Also, many students are being checked out of school before dismissal for a variety of reasons preventing students from receiving all the required instructional minutes. Please refrain from taking your child out of school early unless it is an emergency.  Thank you for your support!

Hong Kingston/Valenzuela Merger

We are currently taking applications for The Spanish Dual Immersion Magnet Program in all grade levels. On June 26, 2012, SUSD and the Board of Education approved the merger between Hong Kingston School and Valenzuela Magnet School. This will be the third year of implementation. We will continue to improve the Valenzuela Magnet Program.  Hong Kingston School/Valenzuela Magnet Program, will operate as a "Magnet Program within a School," serving both conventional and magnet students.  On behalf of the Hong Kingston/Valenzuela staff, we look forward to continuing serving all students. The Spanish Dual Immersion Program is being improved and implemented in Kindergarten and First grade classes this school year (2014-15). The rest of the grade levels will continue to receive Spanish Classes for an average of 40-50 minutes daily.  For more information on the Valenzuela Dual Immersion Spanish Magnet Program, see the brochure in our locker.
